She might be. Nobody knows. She was never vetted by the FBI. She might be indebted to the Alaskan mob for gambling losses. Who knows? Not John McCain.
Apparently, John McCain was in such a snit over the fact that he couldn't get his way and have Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge on the ticket that he just made a politically expedient pick, and chose an unknown governor from one of the the least populous states in the Union.
"They didn't seriously consider her until four or five days from the time she was picked, before she was asked, maybe the Thursday or Friday before," said a Republican close to the campaign. "This was really kind of rushed at the end, because John didn't get what he wanted. He wanted to do Joe or Ridge."
Really... So this person, who will start receiving classified briefings if John McCain is elected, hasn't even been vetted by the FBI? Who knows what damage that might do to our national security? Not John McCain. Talk about a lack of judgment. John McCain has clearly shown his "if I can't get my way, I'm gonna screw everybody" petulence with this pick.

Nah, she is just a Republican neophyte getting an introduction to national politics. Between making babies, running hockey clubs, being mayor and then governor, she has had no time to be a spy, and her record demonstrates fairly well that she has no links to the mob.
But, your point about not being vetted by the FBI, sounds about right for this Bush administration. You know, this Republican administration that sat back and watched as the towers were taken down on that Sept. 11 day? Guess Palin forgot about that when she referred to Bush protecting us. And Katrina, and the dead soldiers in Iraq.
And here they are back again, asking for another opportunity to learn from their mistakes which we all paid for in the 100's of billions of tax payer dollars.
America is funny like that. Repeating the same actions and expecting different results.

A lot more is being revealed now that investigative journalists and media attention is focused on her past.
Her husband has ties to, and she spoke before a group of, Secessionists calling for Alaska seceding from the United States of America? Yep! Her and her husband's kind of people. So much for patriotism, and living in the 20th century. Their mindset is fixed in the 1860's.
In her 2006 election debate she said abortion in the case of rape or incest is a very personal decision, and she avoided declaring she opposed abortion in all circumstances as matter of public policy. It's all on tape.
She dodged a direct question about what, if any direct orders, as CIC of the Alaskan Nat'l Guard, had she issued as governor. (I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I may incriminate my candidacy, or words to that effect).
She tried to make the case that as Governor of Alaska she is the first line of defense against aggressive Russian moves across the Bearing Straits. Apparently, she hasn't a clue about the military or structure of our national defense system and hierarchy. ALL national defense facilities in Alaska are under Federal control and authority, NOT hers as governor. Big Double OOPS!
