The passing of Edward (Teddy) Kennedy last night, marks the closing of a long and challenging career in the U.S. Senate, and opens the door for a new generation to take up that role of governance. This peaceful transition of power, unlike that of JFK, marks one of America's great strengths.

CNNMoney.com just put out a revealing article on waste in our health care system. The accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers' Health Research Institute latest research states about half of our annual spending on health care in America is wasted dollars. They found 1.2 trillion dollars in unnecessary and wasteful spending. Over testing and claims processing account for $420 billion dollars of wasted dollars each year.
In a nutshell, the Republicans cannot permit a Health Care Reform bill to pass. The Democrats must pass health care reform to hold their majority in government. That is the politics of Health Care Reform in its simplest form. Following are the reasons why this has become such a pivotal political issue.
